FLSmidth Cement hosted a ribbon cutting at its new manufacturing and distribution facility in Allen Township, Pa., on April 9, reported local media.
The 122,000-sq.-ft. rental property will be used primarily as a distribution warehouse for replacement parts and a manufacturing facility for the company’s pneumatic transfer line. The company estimates that the site will be fully operational in July.
In 2022, FLSmidth moved production of the pneumatic transfer line to facilities in Pekin, Ill., and Tucson, Ariz., but after the company split its mining and cement operations, it has decided to shift production back to Lehigh Valley.
“We are bringing our cement products that started in the Lehigh Valley back here,” said Leyla Mohamed-Folk, who is head of manufacturing at FLSmidth Cement.
The new facility is located at 740 Cesanek Road in Allen Township.
